British Political Data (“we”, “us”) is operated by Soteria Services Ltd, a company registered in the United Kingdom. This policy explains what data we collect through britishpoliticaldata.com and how it is used. For any privacy question, or to exercise your rights, contact Alex@Soteriaa.com.
Data we collect from all visitors (analytics)
For every visit we record the page path, the time, and a short-lived random session identifier used to distinguish one visit from another. We do not store your IP address, your device or browser user-agent, or any fingerprint, and for visitors who are not signed in this data does not identify you.
Data we collect if you create an account
If you register, we store your username and display name, and — only if you choose to provide it — your home postcode (used to match you to your parliamentary constituency). We do not ask for or store your political views or voting history. If you are signed in, the page-view analytics above are associated with your account.
Advertising
We use Google AdSense to display adverts. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure adverts and, where you consent, to personalise them based on your prior visits to this and other sites. Google’s use of advertising data is governed by its own privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy; you can review and control ad personalisation at https://adssettings.google.com.
Cookies and consent
If you are in the UK, EEA or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before any advertising cookies are set, using Google’s consent management platform, a tool certified under the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework. The consent message lets you consent, refuse, or choose individual purposes and vendors, and refusing is as easy as consenting. Your choice is stored in a cookie so we don’t ask again on every visit. You can change or withdraw it at any time through the “Privacy and cookie settings” link on the site. If you refuse, you may still see non-personalised adverts. You can also control cookies through your browser; blocking advertising cookies will not stop you using the site.
Lawful bases
We rely on our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the site for basic analytics, and on your consent for advertising cookies.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, object to certain processing, and withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, contact Alex@Soteriaa.com.
Data retention
We keep analytics data only as long as needed to understand usage trends, and account data for as long as your account exists or until you delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy; the date above reflects the latest change.
